Welcome. Studiof8fx.co.uk is the home website of commercial photographer Peter Dawson. The website runs in parallel with my Portfolio and both are constantly updated with new work; they are never really considered finished; merely in transition as new ideas, commissions and projects arise.
The website is broadly divided into two, but very distinct, sections :
(1) The galleries offering ‘Limited Edition Fine Art’ Giclee framed prints and stretcher mounted canvas.
This section is intended for those who may wish to purchase Limited editions.
(2) Is about me as a photographer, specializing in digital post production. The services offered and prices charged. This section is intended for organizations, companies and individuals who may wish to hire my services.
ABOUT MYSELF & MY WORK
I am UK based commercial photographer who has been working professionally in the medium for the past twenty five years. Published worldwide many times and syndicated through Getty Images, amongst others. My photographic work is constantly evolving, shaped by the new experiences, technology and influences that surround us all. That is what I find so stimulating about the photographic medium – its ability to constantly impact on our lives, diversify, entertain, amuse, shock, captivate – the list is endless.
In addition to and again, running parallel with my photographic work, for the past 14 years I have specialized in ‘digital post production’ Emerging from the early darkroom days into the digital world. I have worked on early Crosfield/Mamba high end systems right through to the super quick, Ram filled modern Macs & PCs that we now all use on a daily basis. Working with, and for, a small stable of successful Getty photographers & more recently finishing a three and a half year contract for ‘The Art Group’ as a reprographics project manager – helping me to further develop my post production skills to suit my own work as well as others.
Where practical, I prefer to undertake and oversee my own post production and see this as ‘very much an essential part of the image making process; helping to maximize image potential & bring out latent detail within each image’ not just as a ‘digital trick box’ but a more subtle form of image enhancement – as opposed to the somewhat, harsh and often laughable ‘mid nineties’ over use of filters & effects.
I have recently had my first major solo exhibition in London at the RAC, Pall Mall. This proved to be a great success for me. The work featured on this site displays much of that project ‘Reflections of London’ as well as new and ongoing personal projects such as ‘New York’ which I hope to be showing later on this year (2008) if not early next.
I am now seeking representation & commission, both in the UK and internationally and would be very interested to hear from Professional Representative Photographic Agents.
